Patient Specific Hip Replacement

London , 2019

I first organised an appointment with Mr Jairaj in the middle of June 2019 to see him for a consultation at the Shard. Upon arrival the facilities at the Shard were brilliant and all the staff were really helpful. In the consultation with Mr Jairaj he took a detailed history of problems I have been having regarding my left hip. We took our time and I didn’t feel rushed at all like I have for other appointments previously with other consultants.

I was referred for MRI CT and also X-ray. When I went back to see him for a follow up we discussed my options and went over the results of the scans. I had absolutely no cartilage in my hip and the bones were rubbing that badly that part of my bone was cracking and wearing away. I felt completely at ease and felt that every option was explained in the simplest of terms for me, as I am not medically trained myself. After having a chat with him it was pretty obvious that surgery to have a full hip replacement would be the best thing for me even though I was only 24 years old. Mr Jairaj said it was entirely my decision as to what to do and he did not force me once to go ahead with surgery, but it was the best option for me to do.

I didn’t have my surgery until November 2019 but that was not down to turnaround time of Mr Jairaj or the hospital, It was purely because I needed to make sure it was a good time for me in my life to have time off work. Everything was explained in great detail to me prior to my surgery but Mr Jairaj and his anaesthetist both came down to my room before surgery to see how I was and answer any other questions I had. Fast forward to after surgery when i came around from being asleep I got back to my room and Mr Jairaj came in to speak to me and my girlfriend to let us know that everything went ok. I stayed in hospital for 3 nights recovering from the surgery to which I had a great network of nurses, Physio and Occupational therapist. Mr Jairaj came to see me on numerous occasions to see how I was which I thought was a really nice touch.

When i got back home I started on physio and movements that had been given to me by the physio and Mr Jairaj and also organised some physio sessions close to home to aid with my recovery. My physiotherapist was amazed at the amount of movement I had even from the 1st session a week after surgery.

I went back for another follow up with Mr Jairaj at the start of December and Mr Jairaj was very happy with my progress and I am scheduled to see him again a year on from my procedure.

I would like to thank Mr Jairaj for pretty much giving me my life back as I have been in agony for years with my hip pain until I had this surgery.

I wasn’t able to walk for more than 10-15 minutes without experiencing excruciating pain, now I am playing golf 4 times a week and being able to walk 10k a day easily with no pain at all. I would definitely recommend Mr Jairaj to anyone who has complaints with their Hips and Knees as in my opinion he is the best around. I also want to thank his secretary Candice as she was always there on hand to help me with anything leading up to my operation and organised pretty much everything for me as I’m not the most organised myself. Nothing was too much trouble for either of them, they are both fantastic at their job but more importantly they are both amazing people.
