September 2024
Simply put, at age 70 I have a new lease of life after Paul performed a left knee arthroplasty in September 2024.
Prior to the operation, the knee gave me pain with every step I took, to the point that I could not go grocery shopping without facing the dread of the severe pain I would suffer. It is evident from photos that I was noticeably bow legged in the left knee and later, Paul measured the tibial deformity to be 19°. No doubt, the osteoarthritis and prior surgery was going to make my situation a complicated one.
In my earlier years I was very active and one of my favourite sports was football, which is where the injury originated. After having a complete meniscectomy in my late 20’s I continued all activities and it wasn’t until my late 50’s that the pain and my issues surfaced. After several visits to the GP, steroid injections, and physio sessions it became apparent my only option was to go for the knee replacement. My GP recommended Paul, after first suggesting one of the surgeons at Gatwick Park.
He guided me to Paul after I asked who he would want to perform an arthroplasty for him.
Paul made a positive impression immediately. I found him to be personable and honest. Paul explained the custom prothesis and this seemed the best route to enable the most positive outcome. Paul took all the time I needed to answer my questions, which put my mind at rest and gave me the confidence to go ahead with the operation. I cannot praise Paul enough for the attention and care he gives to his patients. Apart from the skill and precision he applied to the surgery itself, he took the time to visit me twice while I was in hospital (for just 3 days) and was available to answer enquiries should I have them. He has been equally diligent during post op care. A word also for Paul’s secretary, Candice who is incredibly helpful and efficient.
Although only three months in, my new knee has healed extremely well and I am very mobile, most of all enjoying walking in the park, exercising and tackling jobs around the house and garden. None of this would have been possible without the knee replacement. I am eternally grateful to Paul and his team. I would not go to anyone else should I need further similar treatment.
