After pulling a hamstring a few years ago, it started to get inflamed on a pretty (annoyingly) regular basis. Paul Jairaj was recommended to me by a friend who always does his due diligence, so I kind of knew he would not be just an ordinary surgeon. After a pretty detailed description of what had happened, what I had been going through and what bothers me, he took a proper look and explained to me what his suspicion was. Needless to add, he was absolutely on spot which was confirmed within the following week by both MRI and X-ray. Those also showed that the issue might be affecting both my hips. I don’t think I have ever found discussing joints and bones as interesting, as when Paul explained to me what exactly has been wrong and how it contributed to my pain. Long story short, I needed two surgeries. I wish I had at least some exceptional sports accomplishments to justify the surgeries at my age. Genetics was the culprit in my case. The first surgery was a bit more complicated than anticipated according to Paul. Well, I surely would not have been able to leave the hospital after only one night. The recovery time was slightly limited as we had one more surgery to go through before I would ideally eventually leave the country for Christmas. Paul’s recommended physiotherapist was a perfect match both location wise as well as personality wise. In the end we managed to put me on snowboard in April, with the surgeries being performed in August and November of the previous year. The recovery is still an on-going process. Paul suggested swimming which I was initially quite opposed to and which I cannot imagine not having in my life nowadays. I haven’t tried splits yet or some of the funky yoga poses, but I have definitely learned more about my joints, body and my own limitations while working with Paul. Overall, I guess having two hip surgeries done before the age of 40 might sound like a rather tedious process. Paul made the entire process smooth and maybe even enjoyable. I will be coming back with any other damaged joints.
